At BAT, Sustainable Development is an indispensable part of the Group's strategy and purpose to build "A Better Tomorrow". This purpose is strongly underpinned by commitments and actions on priorities in three pillars: Environment, Society, and Governance (ESG).
BAT Vietnam’s sustainability goals are well aligned with not only the agenda of the Group but also the targets of the Vietnamese Government, which positively contributes to the National Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030 according to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations. This commitment from BAT Vietnam is backed by clear, specific and measurable goals in each pillar of the ESG agenda.
“The Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) by Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) plays the role as an essential tool to support sustainable corporate governance, helping the business community to self-assess the effectiveness and impact of their sustainable development activities, thereby driving further or improving their sustainability programmes. Accomplishing those indices and recognised at ‘CSI 100 Awards 2023’ by VCCI offer businesses like us a valuable opportunity to enhance the brand reputation, consolidate the trust of stakeholders, and drive competitiveness capabilities,” said Mr. Pham Hung Anh Tuan - Head of Operations at BAT Vietnam.
