Planning Liaison Director
“Always remember to equip yourself with sufficient personal capabilities so that whenever a potential vacancy arises, you will be the first name that comes to their mind.”
I joined BAT in 2000 as a mid-career professional, making a switch from a local company to a multinational. In my 17 years at BAT I have been in various positions across two functions -- Operations and Human Resources -- such as Technical Specialist, Technical Manager, Head of Technical Services at BAT – Vinataba, HR Director at BAT – Vinataba, etc., and currently as Head of Supply Planning. Along the way, BAT has provided me with plenty of functional and leadership training to prepare me for the new job. On my part, I always seek to equip myself with all-round skills so that whenever a potential vacancy arises, I will be the first name that comes to their mind.
Rotation and promotion flexibly applied in one’s career aspiration is what makes my BAT journey unique and full of challenges. My time as Operation Lead of the TaO project (a programme meant to create an integrated global enterprise) in East Asia has given me international exposure and awareness of BAT Vietnam’s current role, scope of development and contribution vis-a-vis other BAT entities in various countries in the region. Personally, it was a chance for me to hone my relationship building, leadership and communications skills.
So, trust me, even if your background is in Technical, Operations or Manufacturing, there are no limits to your career opportunities at British American Tobacco.
British American Tobacco is one of the world’s most international businesses and many of its Group companies have their own websites.
